These tales are often about the degraded status seen by society as appropriate for the woman. In the work, we see that the husband makes a stupid servant fall in love with himself and impregnate. In the Cottage, we watch the love story of a young painter. In "Mr. Peebles' Heart," we read a story about traveling to Europe and come alive. Other stories are equally exciting and contain extraordinary elements and experiences.

These extraordinary tales written are actually not so "extraordinary". It makes the reader question the place of women in society. It examines women socially and economically and reinterprets the relationships between men and women, at the same time broadening the perspective.
