Anne of the Island is the third installment in the game-changing Anne of Green Gables franchise, one of the greatest series for the little ones. It was first published more than 10 decades ago - in 1915, 7 full years after the original novel came out. The new book follows Anne's adventures at a college and her adult life.
Now, the critics are calling Anne of the Island a novel for the young adults, as the main character is not a kid anymore. But, at the same time, it's still quite fit for the children and doesn't turn the whole series into a drama for the grown-ups or anything like that. So, what do we have in the third novel? Well, Anne finally leaves Gables, her home, and her job as a teacher to follow her heart and continue learning at the famous Redmond College.
Priscilla, her good-old friend, Gil, and Sloane join her and start simultaneously. Right from the start, Anne becomes friends with Philippa, a gorgeous girlie whose...superficial way of living strikes and enchants her. Then it turns out that she was also born in Bolingbroke, just like Anne herself. Gilbert used to be her biggest "enemy" back when they were both kids, and now that he's in Anne's class, he finally finds the courage to tell her how he really feels about her.
