If you see The Land of Oz on a book on a shelf, don't worry, because it's the same novel, only with a shorter title. This is the 2nd book in the Land Of Oz series and it came out more than 100 years ago - in 1904. The story unfolds after the events of the original book and Dorothy's come back to her native Kansas. Tip is the main character of this tale. He's an orphan boy who's forced to live under the rule of a wicked and brutal woman, the Wicked Witch.

She's the main "bad guy" in this book. Together, they live in the far north. She's always been very mean and abusive to the poor little guy, and, even though he's tried to forgive her and to "adapt" to her ways, the Witch is simply too...wicked to find common grounds with. So, one day, when she returns from a trip, the boy decides to give her a nice scare and makes a wooden man that's supposed to put the fear of God in her.

However, to Tip's confusion and frustration, the trick doesn't work at all and the Witch is more than happy to use one of her newer spells on the "spoiled" kid. She tells Tip that he needs to pay for his bad behavior and gets ready to turn him into a marble statue - for life. Obviously, he doesn't want to be a stupid statue for eternity, so, he grabs Jack, steals that new spell and runs away into the darkness.

By using the portion, he brings the Sawhorse to life and helps Jack ride on it. There's no turning back for Tip now, but, given the fact that he's never been treated like an equal by Mombi, the Witch, he doesn't regret leaving her behind and stealing her spell. After all, she does owe him that much. But will he be able to survive in this harsh new reality? The Marvelous Land of Oz is quite an entertaining and compelling adventure story for the kids and the adults that will be a great read for the whole family.
