The Trial by Franz Kafka

The process is one of the most famous works of world literature: The story of Josef K., who is arrested one morning for no reason and entangled in an impenetrable trial. One puzzling event triggers the next, and K. tried to prove his innocence desperately. But in the end, the fatal judgment will be delivered to him.

Kafka and "its" Process for many of us is certainly the disturbing reading and unintelligible one. Kafka's texts are all too often irritating, and not only for the actions of the main characters but also for their aesthetic shape.

The Trial was written by Franz Kafka between 1914 and 1915. Unfortunately, the first publication takes place only in 1925. As the Metamorphosis this novel is one of his most famous works. It is one of the brightest gems of world literature. Some critics say, that the Trial at some point similar to the legacy of Dostoevsky, especially with his Crime and Punishment novel. But they found and some similarities with The Brothers Karamazov too. Kafka did not refuse an influence of Dostoevsky on him. He even called this Russian writer a blood brother.
