The Uncle Tom's Cabin is a bestseller of the world literature written by Harriet Beecher Stowe. It is a historical novel against the slaveholders in the southern states of the New World, which are prospered in the mid-19th century.

Harriet Beecher Stowe, the daughter, and wife of a Presbyterian scholar, wrote her work specifically against the party of slaveholders. She did this with masterful physical descriptions and narrative strategies that similar to the sentimental novel of her time. Moreover, Harriet Beecher Stowe made the historical reality believable.

The United States in 1850 was a divided country. A deep rift divides the slaveholding Southern states out of the northern states. So, Harriet Beecher Stowe shows us the changing fortunes of slaves whose life depended of whims and economic condition of their masters - for better or for worse. With righteous anger, the author denounces a system which gives a right to treat the African American people as soulless things.

The Uncle Tom's Cabin shows us very clearly the internal contradiction of a nation that was born from the desire for freedom and equality, and a part of its inhabitants simply refused these values. The author is sharp and clear in her thoughts about this touchy subject.
